PhD meeting in Bonn on 19th/20th October 2015

In the middle of October the members of molife met in the University of Bonn at the group of Prof. Thomas Bredow. Thus, the central aspects of the meeting were the theoretical calculations for the structures of Li ion conductors and Li diffusion used in the research unit FOR 1277. The talks of participants initiated a very useful discussion during the meeting. The topics for the next project meeting were mentioned. This meeting was again very successful for all participants. We thank the organization team for the great event.

Project meeting in Oldenburg

On 8th-9th July the molife project meeting took place in Oldenburg. We discussed the status of each subproject and visited the research center "Next Energy". There was given a talk about battery research. We thank Prof. Michael Wark and his colleagues for the good organization and looking forward to visit Bonn for the next phd meeting and Clausthal for the next project meeting.

PhD meeting

On 5th March the PhD meeting took place at the Leibniz Universität Hannover (Institut für Mineralogie). We discussed measurements for publication and the results submitted to the themed issue "Lithium in Solids: Structure and Dynamics" in Zeitschrift für Physikalische Chemie.

Bunsen Colloquium "Lithium in Solids: Structure and Dynamics"

In Institute of Physical Chemistry of the University of Hannover the Bunsen Colloquium “Lithium in Solids: Structure and Dynamics” was hold on 6th-7th October 2014. This international Colloquium provided an opportunity for discussing recent progress in studies on lithium diffusion. Additionally the Summer School “Energy Materials” took place on 8th-10th October 2014. The focus of the meeting was on experimental and theoretical approaches towards synthesis and characterization of lithium containing solids. The mechanisms of Li ion diffusion in solids were discussed by renowned speakers from Germany, Switzerland and Austria. The Colloquium also explored the recent progress on the interesting field of Li-ion batteries. About 50 participants from several countries across Europe attended the meeting, which had oral and poster sessions. The success of the Colloquium was also due to the support by the Research Unit FOR 1277 molife and the active participation of its members.

2nd phd meeting of FOR 1277 "molife"

On 8th/9th May the 2nd phd meeting of FOR 1277 molife took place at the TU Clausthal. During the event we learned more about the methods mainly applied in subproject 8. Johanna Rahn and Erwin Hüger gave a lecture on these methods and organized an excursion through the Institute of Metallurgy. The talks from participants were pointed on their newest results. These led to interesting discussions and were helpful for further research.

Workshop "Spectroscopic methods"

From 24th to 28th March 2014 a molife workshop was held at the Leibniz University of Hannover (IM and PCI).  Phd students and postdocs from the "FOR 1277" project learned about UV-Vis, IR, Raman, NMR and Impedance spectroscopy. The introduction to these methods was carried out partly by external guests. In our laboratories the participants had a look on our experiments and got a practical training on the applied methods. The meeting served not only for information exchange but also for team building. We are glad to visit the TU Clausthal for molife phd meeting soon.

Solid state seminar in Graz

From Wednesday (23/10/2013) to Friday (25/10/2013) a project meeting took place this time at the University of Graz, Austria. The project leaders have reported about the state of research. The 21 participants could visit the NMR hall and other laboratories.

PhD meeting of "molife"

For the first time in the second period of molife a PhD meeting took place. Our new project partners from the Institute of Chemistry invited us to the meeting on 4th October 2013 at the Technical University of Berlin. The opening with a get-together allowed everyone to get to know new members, a sample as well as information exchange and a discussion about further cooperation. Mr. Nakhal organized an interesting guided tour through the laboratories which gaves an overview of the research of the molife members at the Technical University of Berlin. In the afternoon current subprojects and research results were presented. After the lectures the discussion was continued in a restaurant close to the university.
